December 1 marks a special day: GivingTuesday’s worldwide day of generosity. GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement that sees masses of people and organizations transform both their immediate communities and the world. Should you wish to take part in this big event, you may be considering the numerous gestures you could make.
This year, U.S. Money Reserve encourages individuals to share messages of gratitude with active-duty service men and women and veterans. The ongoing GivingTuesday initiative is an ideal opportunity to show appreciation for those who serve.
GivingTuesday 2020
The world-famous campaign started eight years ago with a straightforward idea: to launch an international day encouraging people to do good. Since then, the generosity movement has seen a snowball effect, inspiring millions of people to give back, work together, and host events and activities that celebrate the simple act of generosity.
Each year, GivingTuesday has grown in strength and impact. In 2019, the event raised $511,000,000 online in the U.S. alone. Moreover, when this figure is combined with the donations made offline, GivingTuesday raised a colossal $1,970,000,000 last year.
Of course, GivingTuesday is not all about monetary donations. A central part of the campaign is an emphasis on the importance of acts of generosity and reaching out to support those in need. U.S. Money Reserve hosts an initiative to help individuals do just that.
U.S. Money Reserve and “Wings of Gratitude”
U.S. Money Reserve, America’s Gold Authority®, launched its “Wings of Gratitude” initiative in June 2020 in an effort to help families give back to both active soldiers and veterans. The core purpose of the initiative is to allow people across the country to show their appreciation.
“As long supporters of our nation’s veterans, we wanted to develop a new initiative to give back to our nation’s military heroes while creating a fun and gratifying experience for families to get involved in through a creative service project,” said Angela Roberts, CEO of U.S. Money Reserve, when the campaign first launched.
“Having families send positive messages reminds our active military members and veterans that we are thinking of them, and they have our unwavering support.”
The team at U.S. Money Reserve has also enlisted the help of big-name star J. R. Martinez as a campaign ambassador for this initiative. Martinez is a New York Times best-selling author, season 13 winner of Dancing with the Stars, burn survivor, and U.S. Army veteran.
“It is a privilege to be a part of this project. I believe it will boost morale and goodwill for those who have served or are currently serving our country,” said Martinez. “As a veteran myself, I can’t express enough how much it means for people to show their gratitude when you have been through so much. Whether [you’re on] active duty or experiencing the sacrifice and separation of being away from your loved ones, voices of support from back home can really make a positive difference.”
U.S. Money Reserve encourages people and their families to take part in GivingTuesday 2020 by joining the “Wings of Gratitude” campaign. There is no better way to remember and honor this day of goodwill than by giving back to those who need it the most. U.S. Money Reserve has a longstanding history of supporting the nation’s military and honoring our military history, so we hope to encourage as many people as we can to participate.
People can show their gratitude to veterans and soldiers in several ways through the initiative. U.S. Money Reserve suggests such options as writing a letter, picking a photograph to send, drawing a picture, or writing a thank-you card. These touching gestures are simple ways to appreciate and thank the service men and women who receive them.
When you have created your message of appreciation, you can mail your letter, card, photo, or drawing to P.O. Box 170339 Austin, TX 78717. You can also share a digital message with veterans and soldiers by submitting it online here.
